Boundary Fault Stile
Interactive public artwork sited where the Highland Boundary Fault crosses the Rosneath Peninsula — a unique geological seam in the Earth’s crust marking the collision of land masses and the meeting of two distinctly different rock formations of the Highlands and Lowlands.
The two-part step stile is made from Green Schist and Old Red Sandstone, the two major rock types that converge at the Boundary Fault. It invites visitors to tread carefully across deep time whilst offering a vantage point to where the fault line continues across the water to Arran.
Developed through Community Geology Walks with Bill Henderson and young people’s Landmarking workshops at Cove Park. Commissioned by the Arts and Heritage Groups of Our Community Cove and Kilcreggan in partnership with Cove Park and funded through a share of the National Lottery’s Awards for All.
